Hi Charlie, thank's that you have taking the time to answer a few questions of Elements of Crime.

You have written your first short story when you were 11, and with 13 years at your first "science fiction noir" story. You have completed a study of theater, and why you have not studied literature or creative writing for example?

I did study creative writing for one semester at CSU San Francisco. I hated it. Not that the specific program at CSUSF was especially poor, I just wasn't suited to the process. All I wanted to do was write. Instead we spent a great deal of time talking about writing. And I didn't care for or agree with much of what was being said. I got bored and stopped attending classes and collected several poor grades and was put on academic probation. That seemed like a clear sign that studying writing wasn't for me.

Your series about the vampire investigator Joe Pitt, and the loser Hank Thompson are very successful. What is the future of the two heroes? With "My Dead Body" there is already a new novel in the Joe Pitt series, when he will appear in Germany? If the Hank Thompson series, a trilogy, or will be there also something new?

Both the Joe Pitt series and the Hank Thompson trilogy are complete. There will be no more books about either. "My Dead Body" will be published in Germany, but I'm not certain when, or under what title.

Your Book “ The Shotgun Rule “ (in German / Killing Game) was your first stand-alone-novel. Then you have written “ The Mystic Arts of Erasing All Signs of Death “(in German / The Clean Team). Is the “ The Mystic Arts of Erasing All Signs of Death “(in German / The Clean Team) a stand-alone-novel too, or will there be a continued with the loser Webster? And if so, when we can expect a successor?

I always planned to write more books about Web Goodhue, but I haven't started a sequel as yet. I do think there will be more stories to come in that world.

“ Caught Stealing “ (in German / Der Prügelknabe) was your first published novel, how did you come up with the idea to write this story?

I started "Caught Stealing" thinking that it would be a short story about a local tough guy or fixer. Not a P.I. in the classic sense, but someone people would come to with their troubles. I'd planned for Hank to be more capable, less of a victim of circumstance, but he and the story took on lives of their own and I mostly followed along.

You‘re also a Screenwriter, there are plans for the future, are you working on a new project?

I've been working on a pilot script for an HBO TV show based on "The Mystic Arts of Erasing All Signs of Death." The writing is almost done, but that does not at all guarantee that a show will be made. I've also been working with a writing partner on an original action cop show. That project is scheduled for additional development.
